Association for Labor Health and Occupation Safety (İSİG) has announced its report on occupational homicides in the mines.
“The neo-liberal policies started with the September 12 [coup] have deepened during the AKP (Justice and Development Party) governance term. As a result of this, 1,571 miners lost their lives in the occupational homicides during the AKP term”, the report said.
According to the report;

* At least 77 in 2007
* At least 66 in 2008
* At least 92 in 2009
* At least 125 in 2010
* At least 117 in 2011
* At least 81 in 2012
* At least 93 in 2013
* At least 386 in 2014
* At least 67 in 2015
* At least 74 in 2016
* At least 32 miners in the first four months of 2017 lost their lives
The report also stated on the anniversary of Soma event that the reason behind the killings of 301 miners in Soma was “forced production”. (YY/TK)
