386 miners had died in 2014
According to the report by Worker Health and Job Security Assembly, 386 miners had died in mines in 2014.
The biggest mining murder had taken place in Soma district of Manisa province on May 13, 2014.
93 miners had died in 2013, according to the report. The union in its statement expressed that the actual figüre could be much bigger than 73.
“These figures we obtained through our limited resources and number of reporter networks reflect the least and actual figures. Let us note that we find it hard to estimate the number of people who are being ignored by local media, not being taken to state hospitals or being informally treated in private hospitals”. (NV/TK)
