The factory workers said a total of 5.000 workers rejected a proposal made by the Turkish Metal Workers Union, due to reasons associated with poor working conditions and insufficient payments.
"The union must resign," hundreds of workers cried on Monday night, resuming their protest despite midnight.
Renault workers today are back at their shifts after the union promised revisions on the agreement draft.
Bosch workers attacked
Attacks were reported on some dozen workers from Bosch, another factory occupied by its workers related to a similar disagreement.
Özkan Atar, board member of United Metal Work Union, claimed that Bosch workers were attacked with metal bars by Turkish Metal Workers Union activists. "1 Bosch worker was severely wounded. There were high rank union officials among attackers," he said. (NV)
