26 people were taken into custody in connection with the Ergenekon investigation in another round of operations. Prof. Dr. Uçkun Geray and Yusuf Buldu were among them.

26 people were taken into custody in the operations conducted in five provinces in connection with the Ergenekon investigation.
According to ntvmsnbc, in Konya thirteen, in Istanbul five, in Kocaeli six people were taken into custody. In Mersin and Elazığ total of two people were detained. Among the 26 people detained was chief editor of periodical National Solution Ahmet Akgül, who was taken into custody in Elazığ in eastern Turkey.
Moreover, in Konya a writer of periodical National Solution Mevlüt Sungur and the six people working at the company of “Tez” that distributes the periodical. Some other people who are members of the Worker Party and write for the periodical were also taken into custody.
In Mersin Silifke in southern Turkey, Mediterranean representative of the National Channel Yusuf Buldu was taken into custody. Police searched Buldu’s house and confiscated five bags filled with periodical National Solution.
In the Istanbul part of the operation, head of Forest engineers Chamber and a faculty of the Forestry Department of Istanbul University Prof.Dr. Uçkun Geray’s house was searched and he was taken into custody.
The detainees are accused of trying to overthrow the government, establishing a chaos environment, becoming a member in an illegal organization and inciting people to revolt.
Prosecutor Zekeriya Öz said the operations were related to the Ergenekon investigation.
Geray and Buldu were nominated from Worker Party in July 22 parliamentary elections.
A few days ago, Yusuf Tanfer was taken into custody in Kütahya in connection with the Ergenekon investigation. It is claimed that retired colonel Erdal Sarızeybek writes in his book “What if Gazhi Pasha (Atatürk, founder of TurkishRepublic) Hears” that he acted as an informant for Veli Küçük in Manisa.
Tanfer was released after he was questioned yesterday (July 22).
On July 1, twenty-one people, including retired four-star generals Şener Eruygur and Hurşit Tolon, head of Ankara Chamber of Commerce Sinan Aygün Ankara representative of daily Cumhuriyet Mustafa Balbay, were taken into custody. Later, Aygün and Balbay were released. (NZ/EZÖ/TB)
