İlhamı Balı was mentioned as the ISIS leader in Turkey in the bill of indictment for the Ankara bombing which claimed 103 lives on October 10.
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) MP Ali Şeker and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Mahmut Toğrul have brought the claims that the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) provided Balı with accommodation in the Anadolu Hotel in the capital Ankara into the parliamentary agenda.
Şeker asked in his parliamentary question to the Ministry of Interior if the claims that Balı stayed in a hotel from between March 27 and 29, 2016, he spoke with high-level officials from the MİT.
He also asked why the necessary measures were not taken before the ISIS bombings in Ankara and Urfa.
HDP's Toğrul submitted a parliamentary question to Vice-President Fuat Oktay, asking if the claims are true and if the presidency made an inquiry into claims to this day.
Who is İlhami Balı?
Balı is known to be the person who gave the order for the bombings at the HDP events. Attacks were conducted in Diyarbakır on June 5, 2015, in Suruç, Urfa on July 22 and in Ankara on October 10, 2015.
Balı is on the "red list" of the Ministry of Interior which has a 4 million liras (~700 thousand US dollars) bounty on himself.
Having previously served three years in prison, Balı is claimed to be alive and in Mayadin region in Syria. (RT/VK)
