Civil Society in the Penal System - Turkey's Center for Prison Studies (CISST/TCPS) will hold an international conference entitled "Alternatives to Imprisonment" on November 24-25.
The conference will be held at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSGSÜ) Bomonti Campus Conference Hall.
Among the speakers of the conference is also an official from the Ministry of Justice. Judge Fatih Güngör from General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses will hold a speech on "the Probation System of Turkey".
Alternatives will be discussed
The objective of the conference has been announced as "forming a platform to create opportunities for discussion on alternatives to imprisonment":
"We would like to bring together the local and international actors about the topic and provide a ground for information exchange;
"We would like to increase the transfer of theoretical and practical knowledge regarding alternatives to imprisonment and bring together the experiences, works and new ideas relating to the field;
"We would like to encourage the actors about the prisons in Turkey to think, discuss and do studies about alternatives to imprisonment."
