The Ministry of Interior has announced that 281 social media accounts have been examined and investigation has been launched into 146 people who were determined to use these accounts between August 20-27, 2018.
According to a statement issued by the ministry on its official website today (August 27), social media accounts were examined for the following offenses: “Propagandizing for a terrorist organization, promoting these organizations, inciting people to enmity and hatred, insulting state officials, attempting against state’s indivisible integrity and people’s life safety, hate speech”.
Social media operations
Security General Directorate announced on August 12 that investigation was launched into 346 social media accounts that posted about exchange rate of dollar.
Ankara and İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Offices launched investigation into “news items, printer and visual publication, social media accounts that serve in economic attacks” on the same day.
The Ministry announced on February 26 that 845 people who criticized the Afrin operation on social media and participated in critical activities had been taken into custody. (AS/TK)
