Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa MP Ömer Öcalan has submitted a parliamentary inquiry about D.D., who was detained in Urfa on June 23 and tortured in Akçakale Gendarmerie Commandership and Urfa Anti-Terror Bureau.
As reported by bianet, living homeless in Mardin, construction worker D.D. was heavily tortured when he was captured with false ID which he was using to do tobacco trafficking, and then arrested. The torturing continued in Security Directorate where he was taken to after being arrested.
D.D. told that he was subjected to “electric torture, sexual torture, strap and falanga” for seven days in Akçakale District Gendarmerie Commandership and Şehit Nusret Bey Gendarmerie Posts, and three days in Urfa Security Directorate after being arrested.
An investigation has been launched when his lawyer Erdoğan Akoğdu filed a criminal complaint. Urfa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued verdict of non-jurisdiction. The case is at Akçakale Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Lawyer Akdoğdu also wrote to Urfa Chamber of Medicine concerning the doctor who wrote his report by looking at D.D. from 20 meters away during the medical check.
Human Rights Association (İHD) İzmir Branch also made a statement for the press. (AS/TK)
