Diyarbakır Governorship has declared indefinite curfew in Turkey’s southeastern districts of Lice, Hani and Kocaköy in Diyarbakır.
The curfew began at 6 a.m. on March 2.
The curfew announced on governorship’s official website involves the following villages and hamlets:
Villages of Kırım, Gömeç, Soylu and Yayvan, and hamlets of Veziri, Aka, Çağıl, Karmen, Ovalı and Mazılı in Hani district.
Villages of Örtülü, Akçabudak, Ulucak, Saydamlı, Kılıçlı, Yorulmaz, Baharlar, Üçdamlar, Bayırlı, Yamaçlı, Kıralan, Dernek, Gürbeyli, Kıpçak, Kıyıköy, Sığınak, Çıralı, Arıklı, Çağdaş, Dibekköy, Yolçatı, Budak, Dallıca, Türeli, Güçlü, Gökçe, Serince, Kayacık, Ortaç, Yalaza, Bağlan, Kabakaya, Kutlu and Oyuklu.in Lice district.
Hamlets of Vilu, Arpacık, Kayadere, Sivritepe, Hevsel, Kilimli, Dokuzkat, Dergan, Mahmudan, Mahmutlu, Taktakülek, Ballıca, Yeniyazı, Hij, Alıçlıyayla, Gözeli, Kaynaktaşı, Aliyan, Abdurrahmanağa, Gegogozer, Bilgin, Körtan, Körha, Seyrek, Sağlık, Koçmarin, Yaka, Sumaklı, Mehmedil, Gönen, Kumımirza, Muradiye, Yeşilburç, Muradiye, Konuklu, Ahmetbey, Gucik, Kola, Zıraht, Acımeşe, Mengüsü, Hacıhüseyin, Navaladiriş, Dingil, Hevselbey, Puneyn, Çalıbükü, Kijikbadem, Dablo, Ayşe, Kuruca, Kolbağı, Kalkanlı, Sınır, Alataş, Bakanlar, Beğendik, Hacıcemil, Çaylarbaşı, Göçer, Esenli, Varlık, Kerpiçören and Pınar in Lice district.
According to the Turkish Statistical İnstitute, in 2014 Diyarbakır was Turkey’s 12th most populated city, with a population of 1,635,048. The population of the city center is 834,854.
Diyarbakır’s (Amed’s) city center has about 9000 years of recorded history. The Diyarbakır Castle and Gardens was named a Global Heritage site by UNESCO in 2015. Dicle University was opened in 1978.
