Five people in Çanakkale and Aydın have been detained due to their social media posts about Afrin operation.
Four people were detained in an operation carried out by Çanakkale Provincial Gendarmerie Commandership units last night (February 6) on charge of “propagandizing for the PKK/KCK terrorist organization” and “insulting the president” on social media. Search for another person continues.
A person named U.Y. was detained on Monday for “sharing posts on social media targeting Turkey about Operation Olive Branch” in Kuşadası, Aydın.
573 detentions, 34 arrests
CLICK - 449 Detentions in 'Social Media Operation'
The Ministry of Interior announced that 449 people were detained due to their social media posts about Afrin operation and 124 people were detained for participating in the demonstrations organized in protest of the operation since January 20 when the offensive began.
In total 573 people have been detained for protesting the offensive.
