Being kidnapped in 2012 in Syria and missing since then, journalist Austice Tice turned 36 today (August 11).
Tice’s parents Debra and Marc Tice made a call with the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) for sharing birthday messages for their son Austin Tice.
Stating that these messages will make Tice very happy when he receives them, the family said: “He will be delighted with seeing that he is not forgotten and this many people think about him”.

About Austin Tice
Born in Texas on August 11, 1981, Austin Tice is a freelance journalist who worked at media outlets such as McClatchy, The Washington Post and CBS.
A former US Navy member, Tice was kidnapped in Syria where he was working as a journalist on August 14, 2012. The footage displaying him blindfolded was put into circulation in September 2012.
US Department of State Spokesperson Victoria Nuland said that they believed that Tice was kept by the Syrian government in October 2012.
No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. (EA/TK)
