House confinement has been issued for Acun Karadağ, Nazife Onay, Nazan Bozkurt and Esra Özakça, who is the wife of imprisoned teacher Semih Özakça who is on hunger strike demanding that he be reinstated to his job.

Ankara 5th Criminal Judgeship of Peace considered the objection by Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office raised against decision of release on probation.

The judgeship sentenced the five figures to house confinement on charge of “being a member of a terror organization and propagandizing for a terror organization”.

Esra Özakça stated that they are preparing for appeal but the decision is tried to be executed as soon as possible. Remarking that the verdict was political, Özakça stressed that her right to visit her husband Semih Özakça will be prevented.

On July 6, police had raided house of Veli Saçılık in addition to the figures who received punishment of house confinement. Esra Özakça and Nazife Onay were detained as they were walking on the street and were released on probation. (BK/TK)
