Police have attacked Esra Özakça and Veli Saçılık who were continuing their protest against the discharges through statutory decrees.
Being shot with plastic bullets, Saçılık shared the plastic bullet marks on his body on the social media.
Veli Saçılık whose armed was ripped off during an operation launched into Burdur Prison on July 5, 2000, was fired from his job at Family and Social Policies in Ankara Provincial Directorate through statutory decree no. 677 on November 22, 2016.
Esra Özakça was also discharged through a statutory decree from teaching. In the wake of the arrest of her spouse Semih Özakça, who is also a teacher, and academic Nuriye Gülmen on May 23, she went on a hunger strike with Semih Özakça’s mother Sultan Özakça on Yüksel Street in Ankara.
Gülmen and Özakça have been on hunger strike since March 9, 2017 demanding to be reinstated to their jobs. They were arrested on May 23, 2017. (EKN/TK)
