May 1 celebrations in Ankara will be held on Tandoğan Square by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Turkey (Türk-İş) and on Kolej Square by the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) as well as Confederation of Public Laborer's Unions (KESK).

4,500 police officers from Ankara Security General Directorate will be on duty.

The celebrations have been planned to end at 5 p.m.

The streets leading to the event areas have been closed by traffic units and municipality trucks since early hours this evening.

In the area circled with barriers, police have been searching explosives with the help of trained dogs. (HK/DG)
