Journalist İrfan Değirmenci said that fire was opened on his home towards morning.
Değirmenci announced the event on his Twitter account:
“Fire was opened on my home towards morning. Police carried out an investigation, wrote down minutes. They are focusing on the possibility of stray bullet. I am fine, don’t worry”.
He was fired from Kanal D
Değirmenci was fired from Kanal on February 16, 2017 for having declared to say “No” in the referendum.
After he was fired, he made the statement “I received blessings from Soma, Emenek, mothers of martyrs, Saturday Mothers, terror victims, unemployed people, workers. My conscience is so clear…”
After firing of Değirmenci, managing director Ertuğrul Albayrak resigned.
In its statement for the press, Kanal D mentioned Doğan Media Group’s principle of “impartiality” and said that “He clearly became a party to a subject discussed on the public agenda. Therefore, we are terminating his labor contract”. (AS/TK)
