Village guard Mansur Solcan lost his life, one soldier and three village guards were wounded in the clash erupted yesterday (April 4) during the operation launched in Güzeldere village of Bingöl’s Genç district. Following the incident, Bingöl Governorship declared curfew in seven villages and eight neighborhoods prior to the operation to be launched in the forestry and mountainous areas.
The governorship said the operation will be launched until further notice in order to “ensure people’s safety of life and property”.
Attack on HDP Bingöl provincial building
An attack was carried out on HDP provincial building by people who are reportedly relatives of the village guard who lost his life in the clash.
As the party building was damaged, the group chanting slogan “martyrs are immortal our land is indivisible” was blocked by police. The group then dispersed after chanting slogans for a bit more in front of the building.
As Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Bingöl MP Hişyar Özsoy announced the attack on Twitter, a statement for the press was issued at 1 p.m. in front of the party building.
Curfew in Hakkari
Hakkari Governorship on its website announced that curfews were declared in one village and three hamlets in Şemdinli district.
The governorship in its statement said the curfew was declared to “protect citizens’ safety of life and property” prior to the operation to be launched. (TP/EKN/TK)
