70 people have been detained during an operation launched in İstanbul.
State-run Anadolu Agency reported that the operation was launched "against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)".
Simultaneous operations were carried out by Anti-Terror teams into 104 addresses to capture 104 people whom detention warrants were issued for as part of an investigation.
The proceedings of the suspects, who were taken to İstanbul Security Directorate on Vatan Street following medical examination, are ongoing.
HDK members are in custody as well
Among the detainees were Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) İstanbul Provincial Co-Spokesperon Şamil Altan, HDK member and İstanbul Education Union Branch No. 8 President Sevtap Akdağ.
On Twitter, HDK posted “These detentions are crackdowns to hinder #Hayır (#No) activities during [constitutional amendment] referendum. Our fellows must be immediately released”. (NV/TK)
