President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has made a statement after the shooting at a night club in Ortaköy during new year celebrations.
Erdoğan: They are trying to cause chaos
Issued on presidential website, the statement said “They are trying to cause chaos by demoralizing our people”.
“Those who attempt against our nation’s peace and their jobbers are trying to destabilize our country and cause chaos by demoralizing our people through these disgustful attacks targeting civilians. However, we will not allow such dirty plots to succeed by preserving our imperturbability.
“Turkey is determined to do anything in its power to maintain its citizens’ safety and peace, and determined to destroy the source of the threats and attacks against our country”.
What had happened?
An armed offensive took place on a night club called Reina at new year midnight, killing 39 people and wounding 60 others. The assailant has yet to be captured. (EA/TK)
