Taken into custody in the wake of his meeting with arrested Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, attorneys Levent Pişkin and Cahit Kırkazak have been released.
Detained during a house raid in İstanbul two days ago, attorney and LGBTİ activist Levent Pişkin was brought to Bursa and referred to court.
Speaking to bianet, attorney Rozerin Seda Kip had said that Pişkin had testified at police station on Tuesday (November 15) and Pişkin told her that he was only asked questions about him being an attorney representing Demirtaş.
What had happened?
Representing arrested HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, attorney Levent Pişkin was taken into custody during a house raid in İstanbul at around 5 a.m. on November 14.
Before the detention, allegations took place in media outlets such as Takvim, Sabah, Ulusal Kanal that Pişkin and Kırkazak would send Demirtaş’s messages to a journal in Germany to be used for propaganda.
Pişkin was brought to to Bursa since the prosecution has been launched there.
Who is Levent Pişkin?
Levent Pişkin is an attorney and LGBTI activist. He is also the HPD Istanbul Provincial Execute. He works in the Memory Center and does his Master's degree at Boğaziçi University Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History. (ÇT/TK)
