Suspended from her duty at university, academic Nuriye Gülmen has been detained on the second day of her protest she staged alone with the motto “I want my job” on Ankara’s Yüksek street.
Starting her protest yesterday (November 9), Gülmen and four people coming in support of Gülmen were detained and then released in the evening hours.
Speaking to bianet ahead of the protest, Gülmen had said she will stage the same protest at 1:30 p.m. and there are many police officers at the area.
Gülmen’s demands
Nuriye Gülmen was suspended from her duty at Konya Selçuk University on the ground of “FETÖ-PDY (Fethullahist Terror Organization-Parallel State Structure” investigation.
Stating “I have been unlawfully and arbitrarily suspended from my duty”, Gülmen listed her demands:
- End State of Emergency.
- Return discharged and suspended revolutionary democrat civil servants to their duties.
- Put an end to arbitrary and unlawful discharges.
- Science can’t be done without job security. We want job security for all educational and science workers. (BK/TK)
