HDP, DBP’s Call for Solidarity With Kışanak, Anlı Banned by Governorship

Simultaneous demonstrations will be staged at 11 a.m. in İstanbul and Diyarbakır in protest of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı being taken into custody. Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that the demonstration was unlawful.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) have called for people to take to the streets in İstanbul and Diyarbakır at 11 a.m. to protest Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı being taken into custody.

Issuing a written statement following the solidarity call, Diyarbakır Governorship has announced that the demonstrations to be staged at 11 a.m. were unlawful and noted;

“We have full trust that the people of Diyarbakır would show discretion and not accredit such illegal calls”.

Protests in 3 regions in Diyarbakır and İstanbul

Upon Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı being taken into custody, HDP and DBP called for people to take to the streets saying “Come and let us protect our willpower all together.

At 11 a.m. the protestors will gather in front of the municipality building in Diyarbakır.

In İstanbul, simultaneous demonstrations will be staged in front of the Boğa (Bull) Statue in Kadıköy, Galatasaray square in Taksim and Bakırköy square. (ÇT/DG)
