People’s Republican Party (CHP) İstanbul MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu has announced his report in which he compiled human right violations that took place from July to October.
There is a special chapter spared for post July 15 coup attempt.
Tanrıkulu noted that he also made use of the figures on bianet’s Male Violence Monitoring Report. According to the report prepared by Women and LGBTI editor Çiçek Tahaoğlu in August, men killed 22 women in August.
“Rights violations taking place between July-October reveals government’s distance between itself and human rights and democracy”, Tanrıkulu said in his report.
“15 suspicious deaths since July 15”
It was stated in the report that the state of affairs of Turkey’s politics and democracy has been set by the declaration of the State of Emergency and Statutory Decrees.
Rights violations during and after the coup attempt were listed as follows:
At least 274 people were determined to lose their lives in connection directly or indirectly with the coup attempt.
270 people including 179 civilians and 62 police officers lost their lives and 2,195 others injured in the incidents on July 15 night.
The number of people who lost their lives during arrest or detention is four.
15 people related with “FETÖ/PDY (Fethullahist Terror Organization/Parallel State Structure) investigation” allegedly committed suicide. (AS/TK)
