Following the incident that four civilians have been killed resulted by the fire opened from armored vehicle in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district, police officer İ.M. in charge of the weapon has been arrested.
Fire was opened from armored police vehicle at Eski Cezaevi Intersection on Cengiz topel street, killing four people including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MP Pervin Buldan’s nephew, and heavily wounding two others on Saturday.
After the incident İ.M. was detained and claimed in his testimony that “the weapon went off by itself and he didn’t touch the trigger”.
Brought to court yesterday (October 9), İ.M. was arrested.
Those who lost their lives to be bid farewell
Serhat Buldan, Nejdet İşözü and Aydın Tümen who lost their lives in the incident were buried in Yüksekova yesterday.
HDP’s Buldan, HDP Vice Co-Chair Nadir Yıldırım, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-Chair Leyla Güven and many MPs attended the funeral.
Rahmi Sefalı will be interred in Güvenli (Şahe) village of Esendere town. (ÇT/TK)
