Arrested since May 2016, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Kamuran Yüksek has been released after his first hearing.
Yüksek had been taken into custody on May 10, while leaving the Central Office Consultancy bureau in Diyarbakır and was arrested on May 13 on charge of “being a member of a terrorist organization".
DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputies Nursel Aydoğan, Feleknas Uca, Meral Danış Beştaş, Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Ferhat Encu, Dilek Öcalan, English Parliament Deputy Kate Osamar, Simon Dubbins, Siirt Municipality Co-Mayor Tuncer Bakırhan as well as administratives from DBP, HDP and KJA (Free Woman Congress) were present at the trial held before Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court.
The court has ordered that only three out of tens of other attorneys do the defence and the others step back to the audience’s sector. Following the plea, the court has ruled that Kamuran Yüksek be released. (ÇT/DG)
