Human Rights Watch Suggests 24 Civilians Killed in Turkey’s Offensive in Jarablus

The Human Rights Watch has announced that 24 civilians, six of whom were children, were killed in an offensive launched by Turkey against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG) in Jarablus on August 28, 2016.

10 to 15 fighters deployed among the civilians were killed in the same attack.

AA had said 25 "terrorists" in its report

Four days before this incident, Turkey's forces and Free Syrian Army (FSA) had launched a military operation into northern Syria against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Kurdish forces affiliated with the People's Protection Units (YPG), which is the main fighting constituent within the SDG that contains Arab and other constituents.

The United States and West had actively supported and armed the SDG against ISIS.

Turkey-FSA alliance had first captured ISIS-held Jarablus, then advanced south and clashed with SDG.

The state-run Anadolu Agency made a report of the Turkey's offensive into Jarablus. The AA in its report said that 25 "terrorists" were neutralized and five buildings used by the terrorists were damaged. (NV/TK)
