Nominated for MP by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Hakkari in November 1 snap elections, Ahmet Budak has lost his life in an armed attack in Şemdinli district..
According to a report by Hürriyet daily newspaper, Budak was assaulted with his child in front of his house when he returned from bairam visit.
Heavily injured, Budak was taken to Şemdinli State Hospital for medical treatment but couldn't be saved despite all efforts.
AKP Şemdinli District Chair Fikri Algül stated that the attackers have run away from the scene.
In his statement about the attack, AKP Vice Chair Yasin Aktay said, "Is democratic right laying ambush and slaughter people? If one of the parts of your politics is this, then we refuse and condemn this politics and will do anything we can to prevent this politics".
An operation has been launched and a curfew to be in effect for three days been declared in the area.
