Journalist-writer Ahmet Altan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Altan were taken into custody on Saturday (September 10).
It was first P24 that announced the news.
Confirming the detention to bianet, attorney Veysel Ok said the reason for the detention is the words they used on the program "Özgür Düşünce" broadcasted on Can Erzincan TV on July 14.
Prosecution's justification
According to a report by Hürriyet daily newspaper citing the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan are being accused of "delivering subliminal messages evoking the coup".
It was alleged that Ahmet Altan and Mehmet Altan used phrases with Nazlı Ilıcak, who has been arrested as part of the "FETÖ (Fethullahist Terror Organization) investigation" giving the impression that they already knew about the coup.
