An attack has been launched with a bomb-laden vehicle on Area Traffic Control Station Directorship, which is located on the Diyarbakır-Mardin highway.
The attack launched by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members occurred at around 1:15 p.m. today (August 15), as the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
A hole of 5-meter width and 10-meter length was formed resulting from the explosion.
There are casualties in the attack. A large number of ambulances and fire trucks have been dispatched to the scene to take the wounded into the hospital.
Diyarbakır Governorate: Two police officers, one child killed
The Diyarbakır Governorate has declared that "According to the initial findings, two police officers and one child have lost their lives in the attack. 25 people of whom eight are police officers have been injured".
Fırat News Agency (ANF) reported that windows of a house kilometers away from the incident broke.
Major damage took place in the building despite it having a concrete protection wall. An oil station not far from the scene got damaged as well.
Conflict has erupted between PKK members and reinforcements, who were deployed to the scene following the attack. An operation has been initiated in the area. (AS/TK)
