The first half of the concrete wall to be built on a 350-km long section of the Turkey-Syria border has almost been completed, the rest is planned to be completed by the end of the year.
The border between Syria and Turkey is 900 km in total.
Rights organizations have for a long time have been calling for letting those waiting by the border and escaping from ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) enter Turkey.
According to the report of state-run Anadolu Agency, Ministry of National Defence has declared that the wall is being built for the purpose of "primarily preventing potential attacks from the other side of the border as well as smuggling and illegal entries and exits.

Hatay, Urfa, Antep, Kilis, Mardin and Şırnak
A considerable part of the wall in Hatay and Urfa has been completed.
The construction works on 14 locations on the border line of Antep, Kilis, Mardin and Şırnak still continue.
Also razor wire barrier is being placed above the completed part of the wall along the border line consisting of 2 meters wide, 3 meters high blocks which weigh 7 tonnes.
Also towers are being built at 300 meters intervals for military use. Machine gun, thermal camera and an announce system will be installed on the towers.
On the news, it has been reported that an automatic shooting system will kick in upon warning when the wall is approached closer than 300 meters. (AS/DG)
