Bomb attack has been launched against police bus at Vezneciler stop in Veznceiler neighborhood of the historical Beyazıt district in İstanbul at 8:40 a.m.
The explosion statedly took place between Beyazıt Police Station and Vezneciler bus station.
The attack has been reportedly launched by detonating a bomb planted on a parked vehicle.
The wounded have been taken to İstanbul Medical Faculty and Haseki hospitals by ambulances.
Governor: 11 people seven of whom are police killed
İstanbul Governor, Vasip Şahin in his statement issued at 10:39 a.m. has stated that 11 people seven of whom are police killed, 36 others injured as three of them are in critical condition.
Şahin noted that the attack was carried out by detonating bomb-laden vehicle.
Of the police losing their lives, the ones who are identified is as follows: Emrah Pekdoğan, Gökhan Topçu, Duha Beker, Ramazan Kırboğa, Kadir Cihan Karagözlü and Yaşar Özlem.
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has met with Minister of Interior, Efkan Ala in the Çankaya Mansion as to the attack. (EKN/AS/TK)
