Body of Rozerin Çukur killed in Sur district of Diyarbakır on January 8, 2016 whose body hasn’t been delivered to her family has been identified.
According to the report of the Dicle News Agency (DİHA), Rozerin Çukur’s family has been informed that her body is being kept at Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital.
The family will take the body to morgue at the Yeniköy Graveyard, then will take it to Herîdan village of Dicle district to inhume her body tomorrow morning (June 7) at 9 a.m.
Identification after five months
Rozerin Çukur aged 16 was killed near Süleyman Nazif Primary School in Fatihpaşa neighborhood. Various news sites had written that Çukur was shot by snipers.
Çukur family started watch at Fırat Culture Center with the other families whose relatives’ bodies are not found.
Bodies were gotten out of the district in May, Çukur family gave blood samples.
Rozerin Çukur’s father, Mustafa Çukur in his interview to the DİHA said that he will apply to the prosecution again today (June 6).
The response from the prosecution came today.
Her family tells
Fahriye Çukur, the Rozerin Çukur’s mother, spoke as follows in the forum held with the women going to Diyarbakır for the Peace Watch:
“I am calling out to all of the women who have come here. Rozerin was a 16-year-old high school student. Her dream was to become a doctor, she would become psychologist doctor. They destroyed her dream. May other Rozerins’ dreams not be destroyed. We want them to deliver our body. What was her crime? Her crime was us all being Kurd”.
Journalist Vecdi Erbay, in his article titled “Sleep Has been Forgotten at Rozerin’s Home” had covered Rozerin Çukur’s father, Mustafa Çukur’s words as to the day of the incident.
“… They didn’t wait at all for her to go behind the barricade. When he learned that his daughter went to Sur to get the course notes, he took phone in hand. No one picked up the phone first, then the phone was always closed. He immediately left for Sur, talked to the officials by the police barricade. ‘My daughter is in Sur, let me go and get her’, he said. They didn’t let him.
