Aksoy: Condemning censorship in solidarity
Günay Aksoy, one of the editors in Özgür Gündem daily talking to bianet has noted that the editors on watch have cultivated themselves in different areas:
Noting “our editor in chief colleagues have made enormous contributions to our newspaper, especially as moral support”, Aksoy has underlined that this solidarity act had been formed not only against oppressions targeting Özgür Gündem daily but all kinds of oppressions against press and freedom of expression.
“While discussing how we could keep journalism which they wanted to destroy, alive and how we could continue ethical journalism, we have realised that we needed solidarity first.”
Aksoy has said that they had contacted the journalist organizations and trade bodies which is how the solidarity watch had been created in which we need solidarity.
“We are receiving support from people against censorship because within this campaign, we condemn censorship with the help of solidarity”.
The “Co-Editorship-in-Chief” campaign will continue 30 more days at least. Özgür Gündem daily also publishes the articles of those who want to act in solidarity with the newspaper on the “visitors corner”. (EA/DG)
