An earth-moving truck crashed university student named Sule İdil Dere (23). Dere lost her life on the scene.
An earth-moving truck used in excavation works in Yoğurtçu Park within the scope of rehabilitation works of Kurbağalıdere at around 11:30 p.m. crashed Şule İdil Dere who was student at İstanbul University, Faculty of Finance. The truck driver has been detained and taken into Kadıköy Police Station.
Kadıköy Municipality said the truck was there due to the work of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB).
The İBB which we reached on phone said that they wouldn’t be able to fill in as the authorities were at a meeting.
The funeral of Dere will be held today at Zühtüpaşa Mosque at 5 p.m.
Two workers have been poisoned yesterday
Again within the scope of the ongoing Kurbağalıdere rehabilitation works on Yoğurtçu Park Street, two workers painting in construction of 10-meter creek bleed tunnel have been poisoned by accumulated coal gas in the tunnel.
Following the informing of citizens noticing the incident, fire squad and medical units arrived at the scene.
The workers have been taken into hospital after the initial medical attention. (ÇT/TK)
