The report announced by the Human Rights Watch (HRW) organization today (May 10), that Turkey’s border patrol units opened fire on Syrian refugees in March and April, subsequent to this five people lost their lives, 14 others injured.
The HRW basing its allegation on victims, eyewitnesses and local sources on the border whom it interviewed, one of the killed is a child.
The organization stating Turkey pursues an “open door policy” but put up a wall on the border criticized the wall implementation, reported that keeping the border closed jeopardizes Syrians’ lives.
It asked Turkey to “give up pushing back the Syrian refugees and investigate all cases of soldiers using excessive force”.
Simpson: Horrifying
HRW’s senior refugee researcher Gerry Simpson said, “While Turkey’s high-ranking official authorities claim that they welcome Syrian refugees openly, the soldiers tasked on the country’s border kill and beat them”.
“Opening fire on traumatized women, men and children fleeing the war is horrifying”. (YY/TK)
