The incident that Riot Control Vehicle (TOMA) crashing Nail Mavuş (57) to death in Beyoğlu district of İstanbul on May 1 has been brought to parliament.
Parliamentary Internal Affairs Commission Member, Republican People’s Party (CHP) İzmir MP Murat Bakan, has submitted a summary of proceedings to parliament as to the police causing the death of Mavuş.
TOMA en route to Unkapanı from Tarlabaşı Boulevard on May 1 had crashed Nail Mavuş by making a U-turn though it was forbidden. Mavuş had lost his life.
Murat Bakan in his summary reportedly stated that “Such instances and lack of investigations into these instances damage prestige of law enforcers”.
The summary of proceedings includes the following questions:
* Is there any investigation launched by the Ministry of Interiors into the matter?
* Has the police officer driving the TOMA identified?
* Has any legal action started?
I* s the state going to provide material or moral aid to Nail Mavuş’s family? (AS/TK)
