The anarchists entering the area undressed to protest the detailed search by police at May 1 celebrations in İzmir have issued a statement:
The statement is as follows:
“We as anti-authoritarian, animal liberalist and anarchists coming together at May 1, took off our clothes reflexively against body search by police and entered the area without our bodies be searched. In contrary to disinformation in mainstream media, we conveyed to organization committee that we are fine with our body be searched but we wouldn’t pass the police search, however, our demand was turned down for security purposes. We witnessed the unskillfulness of this security purpose in Ankara, Amed and Suruç massacres. We believe police are incapable of ensuring our security. That is the reason of our direct protest.
“We haven’t taken off our clothes only but also ethnic, religious, sexual, biological and many more identities that the system dictated on us. The media’s presenting this as an act of a number of pissed youngsters has forced us to make this statement. We don’t find our friends’ being pointed as target by exposing their images unethical. Our current stance won’t change henceforward.
