Following the access block to the website of Sputnik news in Turkey, also the Turkey General Director of the News Agency, Tural Kerimov has been denied entry to Turkey.

According to the report of Sputnik, Kerimov has pointed out that he had been given no explanation for the denial:
“Someone from the border checkpoint took my passport, took me to an examination room in the international arrival terminal and I was made wait for an hour in the room without any explanation.
Kerimov has added that he has been given a notice that he had been denied entry to the country and his press card as well as residence permit had been seized.
He has added that no reason for the denial was included on the notice he had been given and the authorities in the Atatürk Airport have asked him to go back to Russia with the next plane.

Russion Union of Journalists have condemned Kerimov being deported from Turkeyç
The Secretary of the Union, Nadejda Ajgihina has made the following statement:
“The rights of the journalists in Turkey is an issue which had been concerning international organizations seriously for a long time. The recent incidents, meaning the deportation of the Russian journalist [Kerimov] and the access denial for the Russian news site [Sputnik Turkey] is a clear violation of international norms.
Reason for Deportation investigated
Aleksandr Leşukov from the Russian Embassy Ankara in his statement to Sputnik has noted that they had been trying to find out the reasons for the forbidding Kerimov from entering Turkey. (AS/DG)
