Syrian refugee Fadi Mansour was released after being kept in “Problematic Passengers Room” in Atatürk Airport for a year, but now has been sent to Kumkapı Repatriation Center.
His attorney, Aysu Kapaklıkaya in her statement to bianet said his release procedures from the airport were completed but taken to Kumkapı Repatriation Center in the evening hours.
From airport to repatriation center
It was decided last weekend to release Mansour from “Problematic Passengers Room” in Atatürk Airport where he was kept for a year. He waited at police station in the airport until he left. His procedures were completed and released last morning.
However, the decision included him to be taken to Adana Repatriation Center.
His attorney Kapaklıkaya applied to İstanbul Provincial Immigration Management Directorate yesterday to have him not sent to Repatriation Center.
His application hasn’t been responded yet but Mansour was taken to Kumkapı Repatriation Center last night.
It has also been applied to Ankara 1st Administrative Court for Mansour to be able to stay in Turkey. Court ruling is being awaited.
Mansour had shared the picture of the hamburger he used to eat to every lunch for a year on Twitter.
What had happened?
