It has been announced that the operations conducted by police and military ended in Turkey’s southeastern Sur district of Diyarbakır province.
“The operation started to capture PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) members, establish public order, remove barricades, close the ditches and dispose explosives, completed on its 103th day”, CNN Türk and state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Curfew is still in effect in Sur district as of December 2, 2015.
One person killed in Yüksekova
Operation is being launched in Turkey’s southeastern Esenyurt neighborhood of Yüksekova district in Hakkarito remove the barricades.
Fire opened during the operation hit a cargo vehicle passing on the highway. One person in the vehicle killed, another heavily injured.
According to Yüksekova News, the incident took place on İpekyolu street YSE intersection. Driver Ferhat Gülseven (32) and İlhan Engin (27) injured.
While the injured have been taken to Yüksekova State Hospital, İlhan Engin hit in the head lost his life. Body of Engin has been taken to morgue of Yüksekova State Hospital.
Treatment of Gülseven continues.
Curfews in Sur
The curfew declared in Cevatpaşa, Fatihpaşa, Dabanoğlu, Hasırlı, Cemal Yılmaz and Savaş neighborhoods, and Gazi street had been paused for 17 hours on December 11.
Another curfew was declared in six neighborhoods and one street on December 14, 2015.
As the curfew ended in Gazi street on December 30, 2015, it continued in Cevatpaşa, Fatihpaşa, Dabanoğlu, Hasırlı, Cemal Yılmaz and Savaş neighborhoods.
The sub-Governorship declared curfew in Abdaldede, Alipaşa, Lalebey, Süleyman Nazif and Ziya Gökalp neighborhoods, and Melikahmet street on January 27, 2016.
Curfew spread to the entire district when a curfew was imposed on Camii Kebir, Camii Nebi, İskenderpaşa and Melikahmet neighborhoods on February 3, 12 a.m.
As curfew continues in 15 neighborhoods, it was removed in Abdaldede, Alipaşa, Lalebey, Süleyman Nazif, Ziya Gökalp, Camii Kebir, Camii Nebi, İskenderpaşa and Melikahmet neihgborhoods. The curfew is ongoing in six neihgborhoods.
