Rocket projectiles fired from Syrian side fell in Turkey’s southern province of Kilis. One woman and one child have lost their lives as another injured.
Military officials speaking to the newspapers have explained it has been determined that rockets were launched from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) fronts, and artillery unit deployed on the border has responded to ISIS by howitzers.
Three of them fell in neighborhoods
Hürriyet daily reported that six, state-run Anadolu Agency and CNN Türk reported that eight projectiles fell. The projectiles fell in Kilis today (March 8) at around 2 p.m.
The damage caused by rocket projectile in the land at the back of Kilis State Hospital in Kazım Karabekir neighborhood has been photographed by agencies’ reporters.
AA reported that one of the eight projectiles hit a house.
Three of the projectiles fell in Kazım Karabekir and Turgut Özal neighborhoods.
One person wounded heavily due to rockets lost his life in the hospital to where he was taken for treatment. Afterwards, another killing was announced. Police, medical, and fire squad units have been referred to the scene.
Warning of “Don’t go out”
Police taking security measures at the scene have warned the citizens to not go out.
Security Provincial Directorate Candemir Özdemir conducted inspection at the scene.
Kilis Mayor Hasan Kara has warned people to “stay away from crowded places, withdraw to house and workplaces”. Kara expressing booms are continuing made call for people to not panic. (AS/TK)
