Search has been carried out in Bolu province of house and faculty rooms of six academics signing petition titled “We will not be a party to this crime”.
According to information Education Union (Eğitim-Sen) Bolu Branch Secretary of Law, Zehra Kulalı Gezici gave to bianet, domiciliary visit of teams coming at 7:30 a.m. by search warrant is over. The search in the university continues as of 10:30 a.m.
Here are the names of the academics: Research Fellow Orhan Kaya, Asst. Prof.. Cengiz Ekiz, Asst. Prof. Cesim Çelik, Asst. Prof. Mete Çetik, Prof.Dr. Cem Somel and Prof.Dr. Bahadır Aydın.
There is no detention warrant on academics. It is believed that they will go to testify after the searches are over.
The six academics were among those who signed the petition afterwards. Domiciliary visit was carried out on January 15 on the houses of Dr. Ülkü Güney, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selime Güzelsarı and Prof. Dr. Barış Kılıçbay who are among the initial signatories. After the searches in house and workplaces, the academics have been released after they testified to prosecution. (BK/TK)
