Hunger strike of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs demanding emergent medical and humanitarian aid to be reached for citizens wounded in a basement in Turkey’s southeastern Cizre district of Şırnak province is continuing.
Group Deputy Chairperson, İdris Baluken, Adana MP, Meral Danış Beştaş, and Urfa MP, Osman Baydemir have declared in a written statement that the ambulances trying to reach the wounded have been hindered.
The delegation noting another one has lost his life has called for everyone, especially the government to pull their weight.
“Hindering ambulances continues”
The three HDP MPs are holding talks with Ministry of Interior as of 11 a.m. yesterday to have the aid reach those in the basement. They have started hunger strike as no results gained from the talks.
The MPs stated that another two wounded lost their lives during the talks.
Here is the written statement of the MPs:
“Our hunger strike that we started for the wounded and bodies in a basement in Cizre to be retrieved, and initiatives are going on. Our efforts in the presence of the Minister and other authorities have yet to produce any result. We received information that another one among the wounded lost his life by 12:11 p.m.
“All kinds of hindrances including shooting on ambulances to make it seem as a conflict going on continue.
“Lives of every wounded and civilian there are in danger and it is under the responsibility of the government. We call everyone, especially the government to pull their weight before wasting more time”. (BK/TK)
