Three police officers have been killed by bomb detonated by PKK members in Turkey’s southeastern İdil district of Şırnak province. Two others killed in the attack launched in city center of Şırnak, and another one killed in Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attack in Sur district of Diyarbakır province.
Şırnak
Fire opened as police vehicle was driving by at around 6:30 p.m. last night (January 18) in Yeni neighborhood of Şırnak, as the service vehicle which the rocket launcher bullet hit has been substantially damaged, 13 police officers in it wounded.
Among the ones taken into Şırnak State Hospital, 25-year-old Ali Can Öztürk and 36-year-old Mustafa Yaşar died. Yaşar’s body was taken to Çorum, and Öztürk’s body was taken to his family in Karabük.
Sur
A soldier has lost his life during the operation last night in PKK attack in Sur.
İdil
Bilgin’in cenazesi, Ankara'nın Beypazarı ilçesine, Tırpan'ın cenazesi askeri uçakla Amasya’ya götürüldü. Yıldırım da Antep’te toprağa verildi. (AS)
The mines planted in Alanya street of Şırnak’s İdil district were detonated by PKK members at 11:30 p.m.
As seven police injured resulted by the explosion, attacks were launched with rocket launchers and automatic weapons against other police officers deployed in the scene.
Ersin Yıldırım (24), Gültekin Tırpan (26), and Mahmut Bilgin (23) among the injured police officers have lost their lives in the hospital. Treatment of the four officers continues in Şırnak Military Hospital.
As the conflict lasts on Alanya street, an attack was carried out against District Gendarmerie Commandership in Turgut Özal neighborhood. Conflict erupted as soldiers retaliated. The clashes lasted till morning.
A large number of armored vehicles have been sent to İdil from Cizre following the explosion. Windows of a lot of houses and workplaces got broken.
Funeral was held in 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Commandership for the officers killed.
Bilgin’s body was sent to Beypazar district of Ankara, Tırpan’s body was sent to Amasya province via military plane. Yıldırım was buried in province of Antep. (AS/TK)
