Investigation has been launched against Associate Professor Dr. Hülya Doğan from Bartın University, Head of the Department of Anthropology, one of the signees of the peace statement.
The allegation of the investigation launched by Bartın Public Chief Prosecution Office has been grounded on “Defaming explicitly Turkish nation, republic and Grand National Assembly of Turkey”.
Hülya Doğan will be brought to testimony by force in case she doesn’t testify to prosecution within a day.
Erdoğan had demanded punishment against them
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had described the academics as “crappy so-called” due to the statement titled “We will not be a party to this crime” by 1,189 academics from 89 universities, and had called the signees “ignorant” and “dark, not enlightened”.
Erdoğan by saying “Those who benefit the state but betray it should be punished” had stated that these people shouldn’t work in public institute and institutions. (EKN/TK)
