Students give their support for the 1,128 academics who signed the statement criticizing operations and curfews lasting in Kurdish cities.
University students initiating petition on change.org have given the message that they will stand by their teachers reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said “crappy so-called academics” for their teachers and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) will initiate a legal action.
Özyeğin University students have declared that they back their teachers.

“We stand by your side till the end”
Students starting the petition shared the following message with public:
“It is an honor for us to be the students of those who don’t remain silent against war.
“1,228 academics voicing their demand for peace are being targeted by the president. YÖK says is it will start a ‘legal’ action against our academics.
“We as the students of the teachers who speak against massacre in war, shout out with daring that we’ve learned from them. Our teachers are not alone. We will resist all together against oppressive policies imposed on them.
“We invite everybody to stand by our teachers, and we as your students say; We stand by your side till the end”.
Özyeğin Solidarity: We stand by our teachers
Students in Özyeğin University Solidarity group have expressed that they are in solidarity with the academics with this message:
“We are here and going nowhere!
“1,128 academics including some of the teachers from our university have signed a text asking for peace titled ‘State violence shall end; we will not be a party to this crime’. YÖK made a statement that ‘What is necessary will be done within the frame of law about the text’ following speeches made by the President targeting [the academics].
“We as Özyeğin University students stand by all of our teachers notably the ones at our university. Against the authority and oppression, WE ARE HERE, WE STAND BY OUR TEACHERS! WITH SOLIDARITY”. (EKN/BK/TK)
