23-year-old Ümit İnan, gendarmerie specialised sergeant on duty in Cizre district of Şırnak province has been killed during clashes with members of Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Movement (YDG-H).
Ümit İnan’s family has been informed about the death of their son who was registered in Gebze district of Kocaeli Province by Gebze District Governor Mehmet Arslan.
İnan, born in 1992 had three siblings.
In addition, Turkish General Staff announced in its written statement today, that a soldier was killed today (January 8) at around 1.30 p.m. also in Sur district of Diyarbakır.
General Staff has not announced the killed soldier’s identity.
It has been noted that the attack in Sur has been realized through blowing up a bomb set-up by a sharpshooter and five soldiers have been injured. (EKN/DG)
