Turkey’s southeastern Nusaybin sub-governsorship of Mardin province has declared curfew in additional 11 neighborhoods.
The sub-Governorship in its written statement declared curfew to be in effect as of 10 a.m. this morning (December 21); Yenituran neighborhood, Yeşilkent neighborhood, Mor Yakup neighborhood, Zeynelabidin neighborhood, Kışla neighborhood, March 8 neighborhood, Gırnavas neighborhood, Devrim neighborhood, Selahaddin Eyyubi neighborhood, İprekyolu neighborhood and Barış neighborhood.
The reason of the curfew is explained as “to be able to provide security and public order of our citizens because of the escalating terror activities, and to re-establish disturbed order and security”.
Ending time is yet to be announced.
Nusaybin is the most curfew declared district with 34 days in total. The longest curfew lasted 14 days in the district where curfew declared five times. The last prohibiton has marked sixth curfew in the district.
Prohibitions in Nusaybin
Nusaybin district of Mardin province has been in 29 days of curfew since June 7, the district with the maximum number of bans declared.
With 14 days, Nusaybin is also the district where the longest curfew has been imposed.
1 - 6 October: Governorship of Mardin has declared curfew in Gİrmeli, Eskihisar, Tepeüstü and Kayadibi neighbourhoods of Nusaybin district which has lasted six days.
13 - 26 November: Curfew has been declared for 14 days in Nusaybin district of Mardin.

Gülser Yıldırım, Mardin MP of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has explained the situation in the district as “There is a blockade here, an attempt of massacre, but no power and no water. People can not get out of their doors not to speak of going to the grocery store. The shops are also closed anyway. A one-day pause was made to allow the neighbourhood residents cover their needs. Nine persons have lost their lives during the curfew".
