The curfew declared in Nusaybin district of Mardin province on December 14 was temporarily lifted as of today (December 18) 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Nusaybin sub-Governorship has announced in its statement that the curfew has been temporarily lifted to repair electricity, water and infrastructure breakdowns in the Abdülkadirpaşa, Fırat, Yenişehir and Dicle neighbourhoods and to enable citizens satisfy their needs.
The announcement made on the official webpage of the sub-Governorship is as follows:
“According to the ascending terrorist incidents in our district, the curfew declared according to the relevant provisions of the Law for Provincial Administration No. 5442 in the designated regions (Abdulkadirpaşa, Fırat, Dicle and Yenişehir neighbourhoods) to provide security of life and property of our citizens, to re-establish the peace and security environment and to prevent civilians getting harmed as of December 14, 2015, Monday 4 p.m. until further notice, has been lifted as of December 18 Friday 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. to repair electricity, water and infrastructure breakdowns and to enable our citizens satisfy their needs.”
Prohibitions in Nusaybin
Nusaybin district of Mardin province has been in 29 days of curfew since June 7, the district with the maximum number of bans declared.
With 14 days, Nusaybin is also the district where the longest curfew has been imposed.
1 - 6 October: Governorship of Mardin has declared curfew in Gİrmeli, Eskihisar, Tepeüstü and Kayadibi neighbourhoods of Nusaybin district which has lasted six days.
13 - 26 November: Curfew has been declared for 14 days in Nusaybin district of Mardin.

Gülser Yıldırım, Mardin MP of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has explained the situation in the district as “There is a blockade here, an attempt of massacre, but no power and no water. People can not get out of their doors not to speak of going to the grocery store. The shops are also closed anyway. A one-day pause was made to allow the neighbourhood residents cover their needs. Nine persons have lost their lives during the curfew".

The curfew declared in Nusaybin on December 6 was lifted on October 9 in the evening.
14 - 18 December: Curfew was declared as of December 14, 6 a.m. in four neighbourhoods. On December 18 the curfew was temporarily lifted for seven hours. (BK/DG)
