Constitutional Court (AYM) has cancelled some of the articles of Internet legislation. According to state-run Anadolu news Agency, the court concluded Republican People’s Party’s (CHP) suit brought to rescind some articles of legislation concerning website content.
According to the court verdict, personal data of Internet users won’t be kept for two years.
Rejection against alternative blocking ways
According to the legislation, hosting providers were responsible for keeping these personal data for two years. The fine for not discharging the responsibility was between 3,000 euros to 30,000 euros (10,000 TL to 100,000 TL).
On the other hand, the AYM denied the request of rescinding Presidency of Telecommunication’s authority to stop broadcast content on Internet. (EA/TK)
