A photograph campaign has been launched on social media for Sociologist Pınar Selek.
Pınar Selek was sentenced to life sentence on the Mısır Bazaar Bomb Explosion case. Supporters of Selek are taking photographs with the message “Pınar Selek is not Alone.” Photographs are uploaded to a Tumblr blog and shared with the hashtag #pinarselekisnotalone on social media.
The statement of the campaign says, “An eventual acquittal, justice, freedom of speech and freedom of research are rights everyone should have. We want Pınar Selek’s freedom back, have her live freely with us and do her research in her country, Turkey.”
While Pınar Selek’s trial on the Mısır Bazaar Explosion case has been going on for 16 years, she got acquitted three times but received a life sentence in the end. Later on, she appealed to the verdict.
On April 30, Supreme Court of Appeals 9th Criminal Division is expected to deliver its verdict - an ultimate ruling of all the national jurisprudence in Turkey. (ÇT/ENÜ/BM)
